ANALYSIS POETRY/SONG “WIND OF CHANGE” USING HISTORICAL APPROACH

I folow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The world is closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
The future's in the air
I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change

Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
I folow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change

The wind of change
Blows straight into the face of time
Like a stormwind that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind
Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
in the wind of change

This poem written by Klause Meine in 1990 ,was the popular and historic poem.It means when we read this poem we will also remember about Perestroyka and the end of Cold war.
Here,Klause as Germani wants to celebrate the end of the Cold War  a long by the fall of Berlin walls.
Klause said:
              I follow to Moskva
              Down to Gorky park

Both Moskva and Gorky park are the popular place in Moscow, here Klause told that he wants to go to the Russia as a free citizen and enjoy the amusement of life with freedom. But its still dream as Klause said in the next stanza.
Then:
            An August summer night
            Soldier passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The meaning is all started in August  mid summer which the built of Berlin wall as border in German It parted by two sides.13 August 1961, that completely cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany and from East Berlin. The barrier included guard towers placed along large concrete walls  which circumscribed a wide area (later known as the "death strip") that contained anti-vehicle trenches, "fakir beds" and other defenses. The Eastern Bloc claimed that the wall was erected to protect its population from fascist elements conspiring to prevent the "will of the people" in building a socialist state in East Germany. In practice, the Wall served to prevent the massive emigration and defection that marked Germany and the communist Eastern Bloc during the post-World War II period.
Next Klause said:
           The world is closing in
           Did you ever think
That we could be so close like brothers
The future is in the air
           I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

The meaning is Klause portray the hopes of the world which closing by the border(the Berlin wall) even every one could be so close like brothers without any borders and the changing of the world which every one can feel it.
On the next stanza Klause said:
          Take me ..
To the magic of the moment of a glory night
          Where the children of tomorrow
Dreams away…in the wind of change

In this word we can see the hope from the whole world for the freedom is represent, uniting of the world to be one.
Glory night is the moment when Berlin wall fell down or changing of the world.
Berlin fell down in November ,9,1989 and more over 28 years Germany cant live free and acrros the border to go to the other side. The Fell down of Berlin wall is the changing of the world which is the future generations start their hope from here.It was moment of hope.
Again ,Klause said:

               Walking down the street
               Distant memories
Are buried in the past ..forever

Here ,Klause want to ask the reader to forget the memories about  the suffering of war that happen in the past. The cold war cause many suffering in all aspect of life especially  in German which is many family live apart because of the wall. And they really hope for the changing.
Then in the end of this poem Klause wrote:
The wind of change blows straight
                Into the face of time
Like a storm wind that will ring
The freedom bell for peace of mine
                Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar want to say

The meaning is let the change of the world starts from here/end of the Cold War without war, spreading the new found feeling of freedom and enjoy the Balalaika (Russian music instrument) sing. The freedom bell means liberalization.
Here ,as an artist too Klause wants to portray the celebration of the changing of the new world a long by the end of cold war. Then every one can enjoy the freedom as they want.
